Details for Final Poster Session...
For your convenience, we have made an arrangement with the printing office so that the cost of printing your poster will be charged directly to the EITM seminar, which is sponsoring this event. However, you must send in a pdf copy of your poster to Mike by 8am on Thursday July 12 at the latest. He will then bring your poster to the printer and bring it back to the Carl Fields Center on Friday morning.
If you miss the deadline, then you are responsible for printing the poster at your own expense.
When making a poster, the most important thing is that the size of the document should be the true size (in other words, the print shop doesn't like having to blow up 8.5x11 PowerPoint slides). You should carefully think about the structure. You can think of a poster as a collection of presentation
slides. However, you should be careful to not fill your poster with too much text. People will not want to stand in front of your poster and basically read your paper. You should be able to walk up to a poster and within a minute understand what the person's research question, design and basic results are. The boards are 36"x48". A little bigger is no problem, as long as you can put the tacks in. If your poster is a lot smaller, it will not look good, but some difference is fine. Also note that the smaller dimension MUST be less than 42" in order for the print shop to do the poster.
Here are two links that will be very helpful. They give general tips and guidelines as well as provide several examples.

On Friday, please show up in time for you to set up your poster. We will have your poster, easel, push pins, and poster board. The session will start at 2:30pm and continue until 4:30pm or so. Light hors d'oeuvres and drinks will be served.
